Abstract

The elderly have been identified as a vulnerable group. Due to their vulnerability, they should be protected. However, in a contemporary society, they have been made victims of various crimes and mistreatment. The aims of this article are to discuss the position of the elderly according to Malaysian Constitution and situations where they had become victims in Malaysian society in terms of crime, violence, abuse and neglect. Based on the secondary data obtained from Royal Malaysia Police and Social Welfare Department, the statistics will be analysed to provide an insight on the victimization on Malaysian elderly.
