Abstract
This paper aims to identify and analyze Islamic lifestyle from Tasawwur (worldview) perspective. Tasawwur or worldview here refers to the comprehensive view or substantive understanding of Islam as a whole. It aims to clarify the basic principles of Islam correctly and thoroughly that is fundamental to the way of life and well in a person. The concept of Tasawwur much discussed by researchers and Muslim scholars from various angles; however, little attention is given in relating Tasawwur to Islamic lifestyle. Therefore, the question then is how does Tasawwur could be accounted as the philosophical foundation of Islamic lifestyle? What are the conceptual elements of the Tasawwur from Islamic perspective could be constructed? Therefore, this paper attempts to seek for the answer through three main purposes. Firstly, to discuss the conceptual understanding of Tasawwur relating to lifestyle. Secondly, to identify Tasawwur elements from prominent research in Islamic studies, and thirdly, to develop the philosophical foundations of Islamic lifestyle. All of these purposes are accomplished using a content analysis methodology. As a result, Tasawwur is critically identified as the philosophical foundation for the Islamic lifestyle. Its three vital elements in Tasawwur; God as the Creator, man and natural resources as a creature become the essence of Islamic lifestyle.
