Abstract
Qira'at is a followed Sunnah that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) received it on the authority of Gabriel, then the Companions on the authority of the Prophet Muhammad (May Allah bless him and grant him peace). Moreover, the Muslims received it on the authority of greatest scholars of the time. Except it appeared those who claim that Qira'at does not need to put effort and hard work until they reached their case to the mistake of those who are wholly engaged in and preoccupied with the teaching of Qira'at one-on-one . So herein lies the problem. The study aims to explain the Companions who received on the authority of the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and their chain of narrators, as found in the books of the categories of Huffaz (experts of Quran &Qira'at), in order to show that Qira'at must be taught in person and one-on-one at the time. In this study researcher used the descriptive analytical method. In addition, the researcher concluded in it that the reciters among the Companions who were mentioned by the scholars in the first generation are not confined to these groups only. Rather, they mentioned only those whose chain of narrators reached us, or their students were famous, and were famous for their reading. There are reciters among the Companions whose chain of narrators did not reach us, such as Salim Mawla ibn Abu Hudhayfa. There are also reciters among the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them and satisfied with them, who were famous for reciting such as Ibn Abbas and Abu Hurairah, but most likely, they received most of the Holy Qur’an from other companions. Therefore, who wrote in the history of Huffaz and their categories, counted them among those who did not receive it from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. The Companions gave preference Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) when collecting and compiling the Noble Qur’an over Ibn Masoud. It was not because Zaid was better than Ibn Masoud in Quran & Qira'at (Ibn Mas’ud was known for his command and majesty of his worth) but because Zaid was more skilled in calligraphy and this was the occasion of writing at that time.
