Abstract
Permissibility is an expanded independent rule in Islam, it opens the way for man to walk in the world on the nature, which is not contrary to Islamic law. But, the problem lies in the confusion that may occur when the definition of permissibility (ibahah), option (takhyir) and halal; one of the objectives of the study was to show the difference between permissibility (ibahah), option (takhyir) and halal, with exposure to their evidence and various sections, and discuss the relationship between them and find out the differences and similarities. In this study, the researcher followed the inductive approach to extrapolate everything related to permissibility (ibahah), option (takhyir) and halal, as well as the comparative approach to compare them, the study was also based on the analytical approach to discuss the subject seriously and professionally, and highlight the evidence and the statements of former and contemporary scholars on permissibility (ibahah), option (takhyir) and halal to show similarities and differences. The study concluded that the option (takhyir) is more general than permissibility (ibahah) based on the definitions derived from them. All permissibility (ibahah) facultative in it, and the term halal is more general than permissibility (ibahah). All permissible foods are considered halal (lawful). But, not all lawful (halal) foods are considered permissible. Therefore, the relationship between permissibility (ibahah), option (takhyir) and halal indicates the general and special relationships. Permissibility is one of the mandatory provisions relating to the acts charged. But, the option (takhyir) is about the mandatory provisions. Thus, the option (takhyir) is a situation, in which those provisions are optional things.
