Abstract

In recent years, one of the most recently introduced techniques and focuses on education is the integration of gamification. The integration of gamification in education strives to encourage students to be more motivated and actively engaged throughout the Teaching and Learning process (PdPc). Highly motivated learners with active involvement in the PdPc process can enrich their experience. This article discusses the integration of gamification in education to help solve various problems in education and learning that students face especially in Malaysia. Extensive literature review methods are used to identify and analyze relevant literature related to gamification in education. In particular, the literature discusses the basic concepts of gamification, integration and the role of gamification in global education including its context in Malaysia. Finally, the contribution and implications of gamification in theory and practical education as well as suggestions for future research are presented.
