Abstract

Communication is important to enable a familiar relationship to exist in harmony. Ineffective communication and interpersonal relationship may cause adverse consequences, ranging from a simple disagreement, a small quarrel, a long dispute to a full-blown enmity between between the individuals involved. In a marriage, it may lead to a divorce. This study intends to explore, explain and elaborate the effective communication methods from The al-Ghazali school of thoughts. To achieve this, the writer gathered a multitude of texts, articles and journals regarting familial communication written by renowned Islamic scholars, mainly the Afat al-Lisan by alGhazali. It was documented that there are five main communication method of skills; Limited Speech, Smart Lisan, Fun of Lisan, Trusted Conversation and Alertness in Q&A.
