Abstract

This article discusses a significant issue which is pivotal to the Arabic Linguistic heritage, which is represented in the phenomenon of the morphological initiation in the Holy Qur’an. The article’s problem lies in the difficulty many Muslims face in reciting the Holy Qur’an and rightly pronounce the letters, as well as understanding its meanings and knowing its objectives. They do not how to recite so they commit a big mistake. This article aims to identify the way to utter the initial parts of Qur’anic words properly. For example, there is a rule which says: “No initial utterance with sukoon" which indicates that initial utterance has to begin with a letter with vowel on it, and when the initial part of a word begins with a consonant letter it will generate a linguistically prohibited segment. This can be solved by a hamzatul-wasl to ease uttering the consonant letter (with sukoon) for specific considerations and specific positions with a specific vowel. The researcher adopted the descriptive and inductive methodology. She found that the morphological initiation is manifested in how to initiate the utterance of a Qur’anic word, and what the facets of starting the initial parts of words are. Nost of the discussions regarding this problem lie in the conjunctive hamzah (Hamzatul-wasl) because the change in the initial utterances occur in it.
