Abstract

In recent times, tourists have become more conscious about the existence of service innovation in the hospitality industry, especially in fulfilling the needs of Muslims staying in hotels. With the growing development of innovation in hotel services, the Syariah Compliant attributes are necessary tools that should be emphasized by hoteliers to attract new customers and also to differentiate the services offered by Syariah Compliant hotels (SCH). This study aims to examine the reliability of SCH attributes that are applied in Malaysia using the quantitative method. Questionnaires were distributed among 103 hotel guests. The Bartlett’s Test of Sphericity shows statistical significance with the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin value of 0.878, above the arbitrary value of 0.55. Reliability analysis (Cronbach’s alpha) was used, intended to test the reliability and internal consistency of each factor; a cutting point of 0.5 was used to include items in the interpretation of a factor. The findings show all 31 attributes have adequate internal consistency. The results can be used as a guideline to help hotel owners in considering these attributes before establishing a Syariah Compliant hotel.
