Abstract

Al-tafa’ul means optimism, confidence and good attitude towards any action or in expressing certain words. It is part and parcel of Muslim society life. They often practice al-tafa’ul approach in order to seek for the barakah in whatever they do. Nevertheless, their understanding of the al-tafa’ul concept cannot be ensured when compared to the Islamic view. This article tries to explain the actual concept of al-tafa’ul in Islam and its implementation in the traditional Fiqh books. The data are collected from the selected fiqh books and analysed in terms of al-tafa’ul implementation. The article finds there are many topics in Islamic Law which contain the al-tafa’ul approach, such as solat, the funeral management, the naming of children and aqiqah ceremony. It comes whether in direct or indirect and based on Islamic principle. So, we can conclude that the approachment is principally acceptable, but it depends on how it is implemented.
